Gov Dave Fruedenthal 2006

Governor Dave visits his home town

Governor Dave visited his home town of Thermopolis on Thursday, accompanied by his daughter Hillary.  The two stopped in on a number of local businesses to say hello, hear about how business has been, and to ask for people’s vote in the November election.  Everyone was very excited to talk to the Governor, and most people had a story about either the Governor or one of his siblings from a long time ago.  Hillary tried to convince people to pass along the juicy stories, but with no luck – people insisted that the Governor’s stories to his children about spending every Friday and Saturday night in Bible study were indeed true.  (Hillary is sure this is not the case!)

After walking around downtown, the Governor and Hillary headed to the Hot Springs County Historical Museum for an Open House.  Before going inside, Governor Dave took his daughter to one of the adjacent museum buildings to show her the tractor his family donated to the museum a while back.  They also took a quick peek at the one-room schoolhouse, where the Governor’s mother went to school.

The Open House was a huge success!  Local volunteers put together a beautiful spread of food, and the largest room of the museum was filled to capacity to hear their hometown Governor speak.  There were a number of questions, but mostly people wanted to say hello and reminisce about old times with Dave.  A few people even brought old pictures to show him.
