Governor Freudenthal and his daughter Hillary arrived in Casper earlier today expecting to join volunteers in walking door to door for the evening. Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and pouring rain, so the Governor and volunteers decided that going out in the rain wasn’t such a good idea. As Gov Dave commented, he thought he may actually lose votes by going door to door in that weather, since people would question whether or not he had good judgment!

Instead of going door to door the Governor and other volunteers stayed in at the Folks for Freudenthal office to help put address labels on postcards to around 32,000 seniors from around the state. Gov Dave had perfect timing – without even planning it, he turned out to be the one to put the very last label on the last postcard. This led to many jokes about him suspiciously arriving just in time to finish the job!
The Governor, Hillary, and various Casper volunteers also celebrated Casper Coordinator Joan Bangen’s birthday! Joan’s husband Dennis brought in a cake for all to share, and the group sang a very off-key “Happy Birthday” to her. Even though everyone was trapped inside, it was a wonderful chance to visit, finish a huge mailing, and celebrate Joan’s birthday
