Governor Dave Freudenthal and his daughter Katie visited Riverton today.  The two toured the new Brunton Company Building as the first stop of the day. Four years ago the Governor visited Brunton when they were faced with challenges of whether or not they would be able to stay in Wyoming.  He was pleased the company was able to stay and very impressed with their merchandise.  Brunton has a distinct appeal to workforce because they are well-known, high tech, and have such quality outdoor products.  Dave did note how their state of the art binoculars would end up on his Christmas list soon - giving Katie a “hint” to take the message back to the First Lady.

After touring Brunton, the Governor was interviewed at the Riverton Ranger and then by KTAK/KVOW radio station.  In the afternoon, a group of energy industry employees gathered to meet the governor at the Sunset Restaurant.  He answered questions about workforce, highways, energy development, a Job Corps center in Riverton, and housing shortages in the state.  After taking questions he concluded the visit by stating he would rather face the problems we have today then the problems of four years ago during his first campaign.  During that time people could not find work and were leaving the state.

Pertech Resources was the governor’s next stop.  Pertech had also been in the situation of possibly moving to New York.  The governor talked with the president, took a tour of the production floor, and answered questions from the company’s employees.  Gov. Dave was quite impressed with the facility and pleased they were able to stay in the state.  It was about time for the governor and Katie to start heading back home, but before they left they stopped by Bailey’s Tire to meet their employees.  He made sure to congratulate Mike Bailey for his work on their new childcare facility.
