  • Gov Dave helps with mailing from Casper office

natrona-10-25-06-b.jpgGovernor Freudenthal and his daughter Hillary arrived in Casper earlier today expecting to join volunteers in walking door to door for the evening.  Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and pouring rain, so the Governor and volunteers decided that going out in the rain wasn’t such a good idea.  As Gov Dave commented, he thought he may actually lose votes by going door to door in that weather, since people would question whether or not he had good judgment!

natrona-10-25-06-a.jpgInstead of going door to door the Governor and other volunteers stayed in at the Folks for Freudenthal office to help put address labels on postcards to around 32,000 seniors from around the state.  Gov Dave had perfect timing – without even planning it, he turned out to be the one to put the very last label on the last postcard.  This led to many jokes about him suspiciously arriving just in time to finish the job!

The Governor, Hillary, and various Casper volunteers also celebrated Casper Coordinator Joan Bangen’s birthday!  Joan’s husband Dennis brought in a cake for all to share, and the group sang a very off-key “Happy Birthday” to her.  Even though everyone was trapped inside, it was a wonderful chance to visit, finish a huge mailing, and celebrate Joan’s birthday

  • Open House and Door to Door in Casper

Governor Dave, Nancy, Hillary, and Katie Freudenthal enjoyed a day in Casper.  They started the day at an Open House, where. many people came to meet the governor and tell him what was was on their mind.  The Freudenthals enjoyed meeting new people and also seeing old friends from the 2002 election.  Both Dave and Nancy offered a few words and answered questions on issues of importance to folks in Natrona County.

After the Open House, they went to the Casper Campaign Office to have a pizza party and get ready to go door to door.  About 25 people enjoyed pizza with the Freudenthals before joining into groups of two to four to knock on doors and visit with voters about the importance of voting and about Gov Dave.  After going door to door, Dave toured the Wyoming Medical Center while Nancy visited the Wyoming Behavioral Institute.  It was a beautiful fall day in Casper, which the Governor and First Lady very much enjoyed.
