Gov Dave Fruedenthal 2006

First Lady Nancy FreudenthalAbout Nancy

Nancy Freudenthal was born and raised in Cody, Wyoming. She earned a bachelor's degree and a law degree from the University of Wyoming. She served under former Wyoming governors Ed Herschler and Mike Sullivan and joined the law firm of Davis & Cannon in 1995. She has continued her practice in the firm's Cheyenne office while serving as Wyoming's first lady.

As first lady, Nancy has focused on several specific issues:

Nancy is a co-chair for a nationwide initiative known as Leadership to Keep Children Alcohol Free. The Leadership is a collaboration of almost 50 current and emeritus spouses of governors working together in a nonpartisan effort to increase public awareness, engage policymakers, and mobilize action to stop childhood drinking. She has made this her Wyoming First Lady's Initiative.

In 2004, Nancy accepted an invitation to be a member of the National
Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's Underage Drinking Initiative Steering Committee.

Nancy sits on the board of the Wyoming Women's Foundation, whose focus is to improve the economic wellbeing of women in Wyoming. The foundation works toward building an endowment fund to help remove barriers for women in attaining economic self sufficiency and widening opportunities for young girls in Wyoming for years to come. In 2004, the foundation awarded $50,000 in grant money.

Nancy also sits on the University of Wyoming Art Museum National Advisory Board, whose mission is to promote education, awareness and understanding of the visual arts and its impact on our culture to students, residents, and visitors of Wyoming.

Nancy has also championed other issues important to Wyoming families. She works with and participates in the annual Governor's Roundtable on Children and Families; the annual National Scholastic Read; the annual Governor's Capitol Art Show and Sale; the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure; and is on the Advisory Board for the Family Economic Self Sufficiency Project.
