September 25 - Mailings
We just finished sending out a huge mailing from headquarters! For about four days, we had 20-30 volunteers in the office throughout the day. People came in early in the morning, then were there until 10 at night. Folks seemed to enjoy meeting each other and also reconnecting with people they knew from working on mailings in 2002. We had many happy reunions in headquarters!
When we thought we were almost done, we found out that Dad was endorsed by the NRA. Since the mailing was to people that were likely to be hunters and thus probably interested in the NRA endorsement, we decided to go back through and stamp each and every letter - over
22,000! - with a stamp that said "NRA Endorsed Candidate". Unfortunately all of the letters were already in zip code order so we had to stamp them while at the same time keeping all 22,000 in the exact same order. Over the course of the campaign, over 90,000 issues letters have gone out the door! It was quite a challenge! But, Carol Rookstool, who coordinates all of our mailings, did a fantastic job guiding the volunteers. We were impressed by all of the people who were willing to help. To any of you who helped and are reading this, thank you!!
